Function: This protein binds the cAMP response element (CRE) (consensus:5'-GTGACGT[AC][AG]-3'), a sequence present in many viral and cellularpromoters. Isoform 2 activates transcription presumably by sequesteringinhibitory cofactors away from the promoters.
